Description

Third edition of the best-selling text which offers a cultured and subjective argument for being Catholic to those curious about joining the Church, those wondering if they should stay, and those ‘on holiday’ from it. O’Malley starts by engaging the fundamental questions of religious belief: Why should I even bother with God, much less with Christianity, and even less with Catholicism and all those rules? He writes with heartfelt conviction about his own lifelong commitment to the Church – often in spite of doubts – and urges others to articulate with enthusiasm their own faith stories, struggles with belief and ongoing search for deeper understanding. Includes a new preface which identifies important changes within the Church over the last ten years that prompt seekers and sceptics alike to ask a new set of questions as they hunger and search for God.

Author

William O’Malley, SJ, has taught English and Theology at Fordham Prep in the Bronx since 1987 and in 1990 was awarded the F Sadlier Dinger Award for outstanding contributions to religious education in America. He is the author of numerous books, including Dare to Dream.

Endorsement

“Because we have to ask many questions about being Catholic today, no one is better prepared to give us intelligent, honest and faith-filled answers than Bill O’Malley. Just when you think you have considered every perspective, O’Malley will give you another one – and it will be well worth considering!” Richard Rohr, OFM, Center for Action and Contemplation
